8 and counting...

“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

In the words of the wise Dr. Seuss I am proud to announce and celebrate the fact that I'm done with book #8 for the year.

My latest read? Well, since you asked, "The Great Gatsby". Yes, it is an American literature classic but I've never read it before, now I am glad I did... But in my opinion, it was just alright, nothing really extraordinary, in fact it was kind of slow in the beginning and then it got o.k. but never too exciting.

Now I don't have anything planned for the next book and I could really use some suggestions as I am trying to "think outside the box" by trying to read different kind of books so if you know of anything out there worth the read and that could be added to my 30 books a year list, please do help, thanks!

I do have to admit that I have a book about 1/2 way in, but it's just not doing if for me, the book is "I know this Much is True" by Wally Lamb, who also wrote "She's come undone" and that I absolutely loved... But "I know..." it's just not doing it for me, so I am keeping that one open for in between reads.

In other news, today is hump day and a Holiday here, as I mentioned yesterday, it's Ash Wednesday, but since we don't even have a volcano close by to produce the Ash, I have to work.... so I am making the best of it, specially since I went Salsa dancing last night with some girlfriends so today I much rather be in bed!!!

Wishing everybody a nice day!!!

My mother gave me her Nook late last year and my book reading is up from about two books a YEAR to at least four books a MONTH!

I don't know how I lived without that thing!

One of my favorite books is Lamb by Christopher Moore. It is the missing years of Jesus told by his childhood friend, Biff. Absolutely hysterical!

I will give you some suggestions per category:

Funny:

I'll Go Home Then, It's Warm and Has Chairs: The Unpublished Emails by David Thorne

Seriously...I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres

Bossypants by Tina Fey

Let's Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson

Murder Mystery:

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

Hostile Witness by Rebecca Forster

True Stories/Non-Fiction:

Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape by Jenna Miscavige Hill

Cut: The true story of an abandoned, abused little girl who was desperate to be part of a family by Cathy Glass

Happy reading!!

Funny, I was going to suggest Mr. Lamb's book "This Much I Know is True". I love his writing style. However, here are my suggestions - "A Map of the World" by Jane Hamilton; "The Eight" by Katherine Neville; The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet. Just a few that are different. I've probably read about 10 books so far this year. My husband is getting tired of watching me read :(, but I love it so.

Sounds terrific about the books! I guess it depends on what you're into but I thought you might find this one interesting (??) "Journey of Souls": http://www.amazon.com/Journey-Souls-Studies-Between-Lives/dp/1567184855/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1360788940&sr=8-2&keywords=Life+between+lives
