"Flower Power" Friday

Today, on this beautiful and sunny Friday morning I am going to share yet another wonderful gift from nature decorating our back porch

This is another Orchid, a wild species native of our neighbor island Jamaica. I guess because we have very similar weather than in Jamaica this one particular Orchid has bloom many times before... isn't it beautiful???

Happy Eastern and blessings to all!!!!

Blessed Weekend

The weekend is here, it's Easter Weekend so we are not open tomorrow Friday (at work), my usual days off are Saturday and Sunday, so it's a 3 day weekend for me!!!

I know for many people around the world Easter is a very important religious celebration and even though I was raised Catholic I don't practice this religion as to go to church, but by all means I believe in God, he is the most important of everything I am and everything I have.

But like I said before, I was raised Catholic and during my life I been fortunate to interact with people that practice different religions or just have other believes/faiths, this helped me appreciate and respect them, even if they don't apply to my concepts of faith and spirituality.

Just the other day I hear somebody say  "going to church doesn't make you religious anymore than standing in a garage makes you car", a lot of people now a days go to church, act all good inside the temple and then is a COMPLETELY different story, what's the point of that? dunno...

So whatever your beliefs are, may those be genuine and that this few days are celebrated and enjoyed with the spirit of your believes guiding you to strike a better yourself but mostly to act better towards other living  beings...

In my case, I will try to be present in all, thankful for what I have, always being provided by God. Although my next choice will be...

But before I starting enjoying my 3 days off, here's my one advice for the weekend...

Happy Easter!!!

got mail

Back in the 90's when I was in high school I lived in upstate NY for a few months.

One of my most vivid and special memories of my time there, was in the morning walking to the mail box (in the freezing snowy weather most of the time) and retrieve the mail. Always looking forward and hoping to receive a letter from my family or my friends back home.

I love getting letters, they make me feel so special and connected to whoever send them to me, just thinking that somebody had taken time from their day to write to you, tell you about their life and make you feel part of it even if you are far away.

But now, times have changed. The regular written mail has been replaced by the famous email and in some cases (even mine as well) replaced by facebook, tweeter (for some, but not me!), my space, blog or any other cyberspace way to communicate.

In my case, I still use the mail quite a bit, in fact I am always sending my parents little presents via air mail, they send me stuff all the time as well; every 2nd day of the month they send me a 1/2 kilo of my favorite coffee, can't live without my Costarican coffee! Sometimes when I tell this to people they appeared so amazed by the news that regular "snail" mail is still around, but I think mostly they are amazed about the fact that I use it, weird!

So yesterday I got a wonderful flashback of my time in NY back in the 90's, and that's the feeling of excitement and happiness when you open your postal box and you get mail. I got a lovely package in the mail from a fellow blogger, I feel very thankful and fortunate for her beautiful gift but mostly her kind words.

Besides saying Thank you for such a wonderful and special package you sent me, I have to add that if ever I had doubts about starting this blog, sometimes have feelings that I don't have enough inspiration or if by sharing my life and experiences with others through this blog are making a difference in anybody else life (but mine), yesterday's package confirm to me that this blog is not only enjoyable to me but one more blessing in my life, just by being able to connect with people as special as you.

Full Moon

Tonight is Full Moon so in honor of this monthly astronomical event I am sharing one of my favorite EE Cummings poems.

who knows if the moon's
a balloon,coming out of a keen city
in the sky--filled with pretty people?
(and if you and i should

get into it,if they
should take me and take you into their balloon,
why then
we'd go up higher with all the pretty people

than houses and steeples and clouds:
go sailing
away and away sailing into a keen
city which nobody's ever visited,where

always it's
Spring)and everyone's
in love and flowers pick themselves

Bye, bye weekend...

The weekend is over and all I got left of it is, the good memories and some pictures to prove it.

Saturday we went to the beach during the day and then at night to a friends birthday party, we had a good time!

Sunday morning we went for a dive with a friend from high school and her boyfriend. I probably haven't seen my friend Maria Fernando for at least 10 yrs! We had a nice dive (even saw a nurse shark), a delicious lunch with great conversation.... They are visiting the island for a week so I am sure we are going to see them again in the next few days.

 Me & Maria Fernanda

Then in the evening we went to dinner with my husbands cousin, his wife and kids who are also here visiting  from Washington DC.

It's funny, sometimes we go months without visitors, and now this week we have more than one visitor at the same time, that's alright cause we like visitors!

Well, now it's Monday again so it's back to work, and all that's left at the beach is this lonely board (and a crooked horizon, LOL!)....

Have a nice week!!!
