Never Can Say Goodbye

Well, after much soul searching and deliberation I've decided to officially call it quits on my lil' blog.

Now, why you might ask?

Well, the main reason is that I have been promoted to Manager at work and like my father said to me once: "There are 3 things that never come back; time, words and opportunities", so after some thought I think this is the right time to take this very good opportunity.

After working for this company for more than 6 years, I feel ready to take on this new position, but not without forgetting that "a job worth doing, is worth doing it right", so my days are now filled with much more responsibilities that need my full and complete attention, specially because I love where I work, the people I work with and the challenges that come with it.

But, I will not erase my blog, mainly because I want to give myself the opportunity to come back and read about the past (almost) 4 years of blogging and also because you never know what could happen in the future... right?

Perhaps if I do ever come back, you guys might still be here or not, but meanwhile if you feel like staying in touch with me please do so by email or even add me as a facebook friend, and if you guys ever in the vicinity of the Cayman Islands, do not hesitate to drop me a line so we can meet in person, cheers!

So, I guess this is it, a sort of goodbye to whoever is out there, still coming by, reading and enjoying taking a peak....

But I can't really leave without giving Thanks to all my reader through this past 4 years, loved getting your comments and interacting with you guys, my life is better since I am found you guys to be such a great audience and friends....

Adios amigos, be well and God Bless!!!

Pause and take a breath!

At a time when life is some times confusing, when opportunities don't come to us so easy, here I am today writing another post but considering finishing my blog adventure for good.

Yesterday before falling sleep I mentioned it to my hubby and his reply was "I heard that before!", but this time, for me it feels as if it's the right time to perhaps considering it for good.

Part of my heart is still here and still wants to continue writing and sharing about my life, but part of it is saying that life is giving me chances that need my full and complete attention so perhaps stepping away is the adult, responsible thing to do.

So, for now, I am going to go on a very needed hiatus to do some soul searching and making a final decision, perhaps once I take on this new opportunities... hopefully I will be able to find the needed inspiration and time to dedicate to this space again, perhaps not.

Regardless of my decision, I have to say that every single minute spent here's been well worth it, specially because of this space has giving me the opportunity to meet some amazing people as well as to share the world of so many amazing bloggers out there.

So, until then... Be good and stay classy!!!

Friday Letters

Dear week: you flew by so fast I can't hardly contain my happiness when I think about tomorrow waking up to Saturday.

Dear Hubs: Thank you for yet another year of happiness together and for making my day yesterday a very special one, Happy Anniversary, again! Oh, and also thanks to the wonderful gift/upgrade on my phone, you rock and I love you!

Dear Samsung Galaxy S3: Welcome to my life, I needed a replacement for my S2 which was great but being that it was almost 2 years old, this was a very much needed upgrade, thanks to hubby!

Dear weekend: This is how I see you in my near future...

Dear Iron Man 3: I really enjoyed you last night, even though it was my very first midnight premier I was able to handle it well as you were very much action packed.

Dear Robert Downey Jr: man you are hot!... and specially when you play the role of Tony Stark "philanthropist, millionaire, ladies man", if only... LOL! (kidding hubs- you are my only one!).

Dear readers; have a wonderful weekend, hope you get to spend it how you want it, with whoever you want it, and doing what you want! But if that's not possible, there's always the option of just "chillin" like me...

Any special plans you would like to share?

Happy Weekend!

F❤UR

Time sure flies when we are having fun...

Fours years ago (to the day) we were getting ready to take a big step in our lives, to make our already happy life together official and to say our "I Do's", promises to love, keep each other company in good and not so good times.

Well, so far so good, we have a really good life together and for me the best part is to know I have somebody by my side that is not only an honorable, trustworthy man, but that is also willing to be silly and play along with me even in my worst of moods, one that "thinks" he can carry a tune and make me laugh with his serenades and specially one that is beautiful inside and out!

I am firm believer that "All we need is love" but also as you know (because I've said it to you before) love is not necessary the answer to all of our problems as we also need trust, faith, empathy, compassion and even responsibility to find answers to situation that life can bring us, thank you for being at my side to find all those answers and even raise the questions when needed!

So, here's to another 4 thousand years together, still loving each other, cherishing our time together, being silly, having to encounter life's problem head on while holding hands.

Every day but specially today, I am incredibly thankful to God for bringing you into my life and for Him to have given us the opportunity to see each other in the eyes and liking what we saw.

May God always keeps you safe and our life filled with the love and friendship that we've shared from the very first day!

So stay tune, it's not even half a century but I am already looking forward to loving you many more years!

Happy Anniversary Babe!!!

10 on Tuesday: May is coming

Being that we are closing the month of April to welcome the month of May, I decided to do a version of 10 on Tuesday about the 10 things I am excited about this coming May.

1.
Our 4th wedding anniversary this coming Thursday May 2nd. I can hardly believe it's been that many years already.

2.
Every year for our anniversary we try to do something that none of us have done before. First year we went on an Helicopter tour around the island, second year we went for dinner to the Ritz Carlton and last year we spend two nights at a beach condo on the other side of the island....

3.
This year I am so looking forward to go to the movies with my two favorite men, my hubby and Robert Downey Jr, as we are going to catch the Island premier of Iron Man 3 on our Anniversary night at 12 midnight, it's an invitation only special screening that I won tickets for via a radio station.

4.
I am so looking forward to our new pool... Can't wait for that to happen this coming weekend.

5.
There are some pretty big changes coming up at work, hopefully those would mean good things for me as well as the company, cannot give too many details yet, but hopefully soon I will! So stay tuned...

6.
If you've read my blog for a while, you would know I love visitors and having family around. Well, on May 11th my Sister in Law and his new husband are coming to visit, they will be here for a week and although I am not so sure I will be able to take a lot of time off, it's going to be nice to spend evenings with them and hopefully squeeze in a visit to see the stingrays, can't wait!

7.
Even with a new pool coming up, believe or not, I am also looking forward to some spring showers, we really need to rain and our plants and specially our two Ponciana trees in the back will really appreciate them!

8.
I sent my brother and SIL a package a couple of weeks ago, well I am so looking forward for them to get is and see if they like it... can't wait!

9.
I am also looking forward to my next giveaway will be all about summer, although I am not sure if I will be able to have it by May I hope to.

10.
Well, other than this, I am looking forward to a good, productive month of May, filled with great time and sharing with my readers as well as enjoy all the great blogs out there... So Happy end of April and here's to the best month of May yet!!!

Good things do end...

"All good things come to an end" they say, now the weekend is over and I feel as if it wasn't long enough to get the proper rest I wanted and needed... But overall it was a fun time.

Friday we went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and she went all the way hiring even an limo to drive us around.

not a very good photo as it was taken with a phone
She specifically requested that we all wear dresses and she even provided tiaras... Oh well, what can I say, girls just wanna have fun, right? We went to places I've never been to and perhaps never will go back, but it was a nice time and I am specially happy that she had a good night!

Saturday we went out to dinner with some friends and we had a really nice time...

On other not so good news, one of our 7 cats (Albie) is been missing since last Thursday and as days go by I am afraid she is not coming back...

This makes me very sad and I don't even want to wonder what could have happened to her, because of all the possible scenarios some are not good.

So right now all I can do is focus on the love, care, shelter and food that we were able to give her while she lived with us... All she ever gave us was love and tenderness so for that she will always remain in my heart.

This is probably the last video I have of her and it was taken about a week and a half ago... I miss her and when she used to get on two legs for me to reach her little head to pet her.

Cutie, eh? She has left a big gap on our gang...

Have a nice Monday :)

Friday Letters

Dear Friday: what's up with your weather today, woke up to a very windy and rainy morning, hopefully the weather improves through the day and specially tonight as I have a girlfriend's party celebration to attend!

Anyway, despite the weather...

Dear first Pool we've owned: Yesterday was the beginning of your demise and now you are lying there just about ready to be put down and sent to the dump. You've been great and have given many refreshing hours of entertainment, and now you will be replaced!

please do not ask about the empty mustard container, wtf!

Dear You Tube: I don't know where or how my life would be without you, specially when I find hilarious and useless videos like the following one.

Dear cat in the previous video: You are totally rocking that "Rumba" vaccum, love how you just sit there in your Shark suit and be... perhaps it's because you are just in shock that somebody made you wear that suit, LOL!

Dear Ditto: At this point we are not sure if you are seriously ill or just trying to get away with shitting on our porches, but you have got to stop, tomorrow is your next vet appointment and hopefully we will be able to get this issue resolved and you stop pooping on our porch.

Dear Ortaheel sandals; you totally rock and are so comfortable without entirely sacrificing the good looks. The fact that I have a bulge disk on my back makes me not wanna wear just any kind of shoes, specially every day at work when I have to be on my feet a lot... so thank you from the bottom of my feet, LOL!

Dear 2nd Dad Manrique: Happy Birthday to you... I love you and look up to you so much, you have been beyond a father figure in my life since I can remember, besides you are my Godfather, my friend, my teacher and my mentor... Wish you a wonderful day today and every day for the rest of your life, may God continue to bless you and us with your presence for many years!!!

My Mom, Manrique & Me back in 2008 in Grand Cayman

Dear readers: As we fast approach the closing of April, may you enjoy the last weekend of this month, and remember to enjoy every minute of it!

Happy Friday & Weekend y'all!

Random Thursday

Today I am linking back to

And today's topic is...

When it comes to splurging I guess it's pretty much genetically impossible for women to not do this every now and then, right?

And although I don't really consider myself a "big splurg-er" mainly because we don't have many options on this little island I do every now and then give it a go!

Lately I've seem to be very much into nail polish...

It's just that every time I see a cool color, I kinda have to have it, I mean there are so, so, so many colors out there nowadays, how could I not get them, right? Even if I am not into super well manicured nails, it's better to at least have to option to get them done if I feel like it, right?

I remember when I was a little girl, my Grandmother will always, I mean always will have her nails done, but back then the only colors around where pretty much, red and darker shades of red and perhaps silvery white for the tip or the design...

But nowadays, you can find pretty much any color imaginable to men kind, and I love it... So yeah, I tend to splurge on that.

Another think I feel that I am a big splurg-er is Gifts for family and friend... I seriously LOVE to give and whenever I am going away to visit family I tend to buy one too many gifts for people, to the point that my luggage is overweight even before I take the trip or even before I put my clothes in!

To give you an example, exactly 3 years ago to the day, my Mom turn 60 years old, I bought her 60 presents (you can read about it here), one for every year of her life....

It took me about 4 months to gather them all, most were small little token and other a bit bigger ones...

When I traveled to see her, I took a whole bag full of of the gifts (already packed) on the plane and because each gift was already packed I had to make a list with photos of every times so things would go smooth on security... it all made it and Mom loved everything I gave her (read about it here).

And I think that is it... Well, perhaps I also like dresses, shoes, I was once into scarves, but c'mon I live in a Caribbean Island where the average temperature is probably 80 degrees, LOL!

So, that's it for my Splurge items (I guess!)....

On a different note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMI, I love you with all my heart and you are a living Angel in my life!!!

Happy Thursday to all :)

Let the fishing begin...

Last night I volunteered at the Cayman Islands International Fishing Tournament Sign Up Party.

Party area, nobody there yet!
The party was held at the beautiful Barcadere Marina - George Town Yacht Club from 6pm to 9pm. Initially I had plans to stay just for a bit but it was so busy that I ended up staying the whole time and didn't get home until 9:45pm.

View of the Barcadere Lighthouse

There was a beautiful yacht called "Viva Mas" (which means "Live More") parked right in front of the club house.

It's a beauty, isn't it? It's got 5 rooms, yacuzzi and all... If you feel like drooling even more check out the slide show of the yacht on this link here.

Well, nothing much to post about today, it's Wednesday so we are getting closer to the weekend!!!

Happy Hump Day!

10 on tuesday

Let's get to it, shall we?

1. I posted this on Facebook yesterday:

What's up with the people that every time they ask you a question after you answer they say, "really"?... No, not really, everything I say is a joke or a lie!

Guess what people commented:

Really?

2. This image makes me happy... in fact if I am ever depressed I think I might print it and put it in my room.

3. This is my latest crochet amigurumi, an Octopus that was requested by my 2nd Dad Manrique, his birthday is this coming April 26th and my Mom's on April 25th...

I already sent them their gifts so the Octopus is going to have to wait until the next time we meet (hopefully August).

4. Our dog Ditto is been very sick lately, we are not sure if he has a pinch nerve in his back so he has trouble sitting/laying down, so we started him on this treatment that has upset his stomach really bad and it's been pooping blood and vomiting... We discontinued that treatment and started him on another plus a rice diet to see if he gets better... Please keep him in your prayers, he is old an he need all the good vibes he could get, thanks!

5. My boss (our store Manager) has officially resigned, so as of May 10th we are no longer working with her, I wish her all the luck in her future and specially with her family business (main reason why she is leaving), but for now it looks like we are going to be in "limbo" for a while as we don't know who will take over... We shall see what life brings!

6. Saw this thing on Pinterest the other day, not sure if it's true but since I am starting to look for ticket deals for our vacation on August, I thought it might come in handy...

7. I took this photo a while ago, can you tell what it is?

It's a Mango tree flower from a tree on our back yard, I took the photo from our deck in the second floor... Doesn't it look like a snowflake?!?!? I think so...

8. In case you wanted to know, no, I am not into Game of Thrones tv series, I once tried watching it but it is way to aggressive and since some horses got pretty badly hurt on what I think was the second episode, it just didn't do it for me....

9. But, Dexter, that is another story... Yeah I know it's a bloody series (very bloody indeed), but after the first season I was hooked... Can't wait until the next season starts!

10. Dunno if this is real, but I think it's a great ideal, to become a tree after your life is done, then in your branches birds can rest and bugs can eat parts of you to survive, sounds nice!

Happy Tuesday!

Home is where the heart is...

Now, the question at this point should be: What can you do for Planet Earth? and definitely NOT the other way around, as we are already abusing and misusing so much of this wonderful dear planet of ours.

I am happy to report that yesterday we did the extra effort and help out our little piece of "earth" by cleaning a little bit of this tiny island... Unfortunately one day cleaning is just not enough as there is so much more that needs to be done.

The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation organized a cleaning day to honor Mother Earth on Earth Day and although we only had 10 volunteers we managed to clean some of the mangroves near the North Sound. Our efforts were great as we collected about 20 bag of 40 gallons each plus other big garbage (like pieces of boats and even a big oil drum.

Here are some photos of the day...

Trash pick up!

We had two boat, one for passengers and one for all the trash...

My hubby helped out on a Kayak and did a great job! - Thanks babe!

Ready to go to the dump...

Overall it was a great day and a great effort... Great Job team!!!

Now, what have you done for your earth lately? Even if it's smaller effort we have to keep on trying to give back to this wonderful home of ours... But one day is not enough, so let's practice what we preach!

Friday Letters

Dear Friday: As we come to the closing of yet one more week of the year I have to say I am very happy you always come around and bring Saturday and Sunday along for the ride!

Dear Humanity: What is wrong with our species? Starting with the Boston tragedy and pretty much every other news on tv, internet and radio, so many conflicts, so many people suffering and all of it for the wrong reasons, we need to do something SOON, wake up and realize what really matters and what doesn't and although we ask God for help, it has to start with us and our own actions towards ourselves and others.

Dear Husband: If you feel like granting me a wish anytime soon, it could be anything in the lines of these...

Dear Earth Day: You are just around the corner (April 22nd), so this weekend we need to make sure and do a bigger effort to show you love and care.

It doesn't matter what you do, even something as small as carrying a small grocery bag and filling it up with garbage, or perhaps turning off the a/c for the weekend and opening your windows instead, or even maybe taking your car for inspection?

Even just the bare minimum is better than nothing, right?

Dear hands: prepare yourself for yet another batch of amigurumi creations, I am currently working on an octopus, then I have a cat and perhaps another octopus (if the first one comes out nice) already lined up afterwards.

Dear facebook friends: PLEASE STOP sharing and putting on your walls photos of abused, killed or tortured animals, that is just horrible and although it exists I do not want to see it (even in photo), so either you stop or simply I will have to delete you fo-eva'!

Dear Monsanto and GMO's: you SUCK, how can companies play with people life like this? Genetically Modified Organisms equals poison and it's unbelievable the amount of companies that are doing this to us... Check out his depressing list of companies using genetically modified organisms.

Dear followers/readers: Wishing you guys a wonderful weekend and looking forward to an even better week to come after that!!!
