Today's photo challenge is about posting a picture of my "favorite missed memory"...
Mmmmm, not sure what that really means? Because the way I interpret it is; if in fact it's a "favorite" memory, why would you miss it, doesn't that mean it's always with you because it's a memory?!?!? I guess it could be a favorite memory of something or somebody you miss???
Anyway, after much consideration I guess I could say I miss my birth Mom and although I don't remember her from the 6 months I actually lived with her, the idea of her falls into the category of a missed memory, right?
Because I mean, I don't remember her, but I do miss the idea of her in my life and from time to time I think about how very different my life would have been if she was still around, maybe I would not be here today, writing this...
Here's a little poem I wrote in her honor.
She might be gone from this terrestrial world
but I know where she is next to God
looking after me every day
and although only a memory on my days,
alive in my heart she remains.
Anybody has any favorite missed memories to share?
Today my photo challenge is about posting a picture of the cast of my favorite show.
Well, for me that's kind of hard because I don't watch much tv, but during times in life I've followed a few shows, most of them are finished at this point, but I can still watch them on the internet or dvd.
So I guess for today's challenge instead of posting just one picture I will post my top 10 shows of all time (in no particular order).
1. Sex and the City; it's a great show, full of romance, fashion, passion, gossip and did I mentioned fashion? This is a very "girlie" show but for grownups, not little girls!
2. The Simpsons, it's been a favorite show of mine for years, it's just so much fun and even after all the time it's been around, I don't think it has ever lost its "mojo"!
3. LOST, this is a great show, first few season were great but then I can of grew tired of it, I think in a way they kind of "lost" it down the road and made way to complicated, by the time it finished I wasn't into it anymore, in fact, I never even watched the last episode...
4. Seinfield, was my favorite show for a while, it's fun, clever and it's not about anything in particular, but just some very particular people living in NY, probably one of the most particular cities in the world!
5. Roswell, I used to LOVE this show, the romance, the mystery of the whole alien stuff... just love it, miss watching it.
6. The X Files; aliens, crime, mystery, good effect, good actors... this was a great show.
7. Friends was a great sit com, great cast and always very fun.
8. Family Guy, it's definitely not for everybody's kind of humor but I got into it because of a co worker of mine and now I'm hooked... I think sometimes the jokes are a bit much, but Oh well, u can take those things personal, right?
9. Saturday Night Live, always good, always a classic, recurring great cast and special appearances.
10. Bones, lately I've really been into this show... I really like it!
So, I guess this would my top 10 of tv shows. I could think of a few more but as you'll notice I'm not very updated as 6 out of those 10 shows I've mention, are already finished... I guess if I watched more tv or had any cable my list would be very different.

Today I am posting a picture with somebody I've been close to for a while.
Roger and me, March 2009
This is my very good friend Roger, I know him since I was 12 years old . We went to the same school but he is 3 years older than me, when I graduated from primary school I went off to high school but I changed schools so I did not see him for a few years.
Years later my cousin run into Roger again (they also used to be classmates in school), so they picked up on their friendship, at the time I used to hang out with my cousin all the time so Roger also became a good friend again.
Roger is a very nice and honest person, as a friend he is a treasure, the kind of person that is always up to help you with anything, he is super easy going and will never judge you for anything, he is the kind of friend that you could call at 2am crying over a guy and he will listen to every single thing you had to say (even if he was half sleep), then the next morning he would remember every single thing you told him before.
Roger was my only close friend that made it to our wedding, he had to do magic to connect with his flights, had an overnight in Miami but made it to the wedding 3 hours before the ceremony.
All I can say is he is an amazing friend, loyal, honest, trustworthy and fun... I am happy to have him as a friend and although we don't live closer, every time I can catch up and talk to him, is as if time does not pass by, he is the same wonderful friend I've always had!!!
Do you have any friends like him? Hope so, cause it's a blessing!
Today is the beginning of the 100 day photo challenge, I am excited to share a daily picture from now on and for a 100 days, will try my best to not miss a single day...
Here's a picture of me for the actual photo part of the challenge...
Now, as far as the 15 random facts go; I'm not sure what kind of fact I should write about, the challenge is not very specific, so it could be, facts about my pictures, about me, about life, about science....
Anywho... let's start with the picture.
1. It is a fact that this would be the very first Photo Challenge I take in my life.
2. Lately I've had on and off swollen eyelids, got a biopsy done about 3 weeks ago and the results are finally in, going for a doctors appointment on Thursday (thinking I might be allergic to Red Wine, hope not!).
3. Being that English is not my first language I've always being curious about certain little things about this language, for example; why is it that the action of removing dust is "to dust"? Shouldn't it be "un dust" of "dust off"?
4. I've always loved "crunchy" food, like celery, broccoli, hard caramel and a hard crunchy apple (hate soggy ones)!
5. I've never had a "twinkie" in my entire life. In fact on Sat. night coming back from a party, my husband wanted me to drive all the way to the only grocery store on the island that sell them, so I can buy one and try it before I made my 15 facts list!!!
6. I've been to Israel 3 times in my life; the first time was a big family trip with the parents and two brothers, the second time was by myself after finishing school in Italy (initially went from 3 weeks, stayed about 6 months), the third was with my Mom on a short medical trip.
7. My favorite city in the entire world is Jerusalem, love everything about it, the old city, the new city, the amount of cultures that can concentrate in the same place at the same time, all with different believes and interests, it's just amazing!
8. When I was in high school I was class president for a year, it was pretty cool but it meant more work and responsibility, I am glad I did it.
9. My first dog was a Cocker Spaniel, my first car was a Toyota Celica, my first boyfriend was a guy named Mario.
10. I love plants and gardening, spending time around the yard is like meditation to my soul.
11. I like to sing to songs on the radio, in fact I've always been very good at learning lyrics and can't help but sing to the songs I know when they come out on the radio. When I was a kid and used to ride with my Dad in his car that had to stereo, I used to sing him the song I would learn in school!
12. I love books and bookstores, I cannot walk into a bookstore if I don't have enough time because I feel it is a waste to not spend the appropriate time browsing around and finding a book that calls my name.
13. I love mythological creatures; fairies, gnomes, elves, dragons, unicorns, etc... I am convinced that if different cultures and generations have all interpreted animals that look alike, it must be because they really existed.
14. I am a firm believer in destiny and the fact that God and ourselves shape our existences every day and with every action, I fully believe in Karma that we gain upon ourselves and I am constantly aware that good actions reflect in blessings.
15. I love animals and as a kid I always wanted to be a veterinarian, now I know that the main reason I didn't do it is because it is so hard for me to deal with their pain and suffering. My love for animals comes right after God and My Family.
And there you have it, my amazing 15 facts to kick off my 100 Day Challenge... I appreciate any support I can get, so stick around for another 99 day, would ya'?
...I had some kind of inspiration today and deliver an to you an amazing post, but so far... nothing!
If only we had some mountains and rivers on this island.... I miss walking in the forest, the smells, the amazing concert that birds and bugs deliver in the forest.
Costa Rican mountains is somethings I miss every single day, this island is very flat.

If only today it would rain, hard and plenty for at least a few minutes, I know that will release a lot of the heat that is "trapped" in the soil and the plants will really love it!!!
If only I was able to wear super high stylish stilettos like this Jimmy Choo ones (If only I had $850 dollars to spend on them too!)
In reality I never got used to very high heels, 9 years of ballet when I was a kid, proved that I have a very big arc on my feet and that makes it is hard for me to wear very high heels!
How about this ones instead? Kind of a funky electric blue heel, I like it but not the price tag ($1,595usd)! If I was to buy this shoe, where would I get the money for an outfit to go with them?!?
If only I had a way to bring some inspiration to my day, share with you some amazing story and make you laugh or cry... but not today! All I have is some random thoughts and little time to finish this post...
So, I guess that'll do for now... Have a wonderful Thursday!!!
It's already March 2nd and I am happy because so far this year I've already completed 3 amigurumi projects.
First one was a baby mobile for me future godson Julian who is joining us in this world at the end of May, I figure this lovely mobile can keep him company until I manage to get there and meet him, can't wait!
Then out of that pattern I came up with my very first giveaway on this blog, which was the Rainbow magnet that traveled all the way to Missouri to be part of Erin's home.
My 3rd project was a little kitty for my Mom, it was the very first time I attempted this specific one and I am not 100% convinced that I liked the way it came out, I am hoping next time I give it a try, it would come out much better.
what do you think of the "Alice in wonderland kitty"? like it or not? pleeeease be honest... thanks!
I know that 3 project in 2 months is not bad, but honestly I feel like I need to start something again very soon, my hands are itching for something new and I can't stand it.
So, I've order a brand new book on the subject to get new patterns, but I am specially excited because the book has a whole chapter that teaches how to create your very own patterns which would be a whooole new experience for me, yay, can't wait!
I think the book should be here by the end of this weekend, if there are no delays I will be reading lots during the weekend and hopefully it would be the start of many new and exciting project... We shall see, meanwhile, Happy Wednesday!!!
I guess I consider myself an o.k. photographer, I've taken lessons before but I know there's still lots and lots of room for improvement, I have seriously considered getting more training so I can really fully enjoy taking some specific types of pictures.
Now, when it comes to animal pictures, I have this very amazing skills to be there at the exact time to press that shutter and capture something very fast and sneaky... can you guess what it is?
our dog Sheba
my Mom's cat Lea
my dog from back home Gaia
our dog Ditto
here's Sheba again!
So now, did you figure it out what it is!?!? If so, now it's my turn to show you mine...
What can I say? Those of us who have blue blood, have also blue tongue, LOL!!!!
My weekend was great, busy but I really enjoyed it.
On Friday went out for a girls night at a local place call the Wharf where they have "Glory Days Night".... All I can say is we had a blast!
Saturday was a shopping day, getting ready for the BBQ party the next day, we went into town and bought food, drinks, collected coolers and chairs that we borrowed and then just relaxing at home at night.
The BBQ party on Sunday was awesome, lots of people showed up and we had tons of food and drinks. Our Jamaican friend Brenton made Jerk Pork his specialty and it was delicious. My husband was the official chef in charged of the grill and he did a fantastic job.
Yesterday I mentioned that I am making some Mexican "papel picado" banners to decorate my BBQ party on Sunday.
Today I've decided to post a little video I made of how to do this very easy and fun way to cheer up a place with this paper banners.
Here are some that I made recently as a test, are they nice??? Love the colors and how much they bright up the kitchen!
All you need to create these wonderful banners is: Tissue Paper (different colors), scissors, glue and string.
Here's my little "tutorial" video that will give you and idea of how to do some cuts.
I would suggest to make each banner and store them inside some heavy books so the get "flat" for a few days before you glue them and put them up.
There are lots of different cuts you can create, some give a look of a kaleidoscope. To make "kaleidoscope" looking ones instead of folding straight, do a triangle fold on each side and then cut all around.
My advice is to be creative and cut whichever way you want, I am sure as long as you don't cut the part to glue the string you can create very amazing designs, have fun!!!
I took a lot of pictures while in Florida last week but it's hard to share all of them, so I've created a couple of "collages" to include as much as possible.
My first event while there was the Miami Boat Show, lots of boats, boat parts, boat accessories, boat apparel... well, almost anything related to water and boating... mostly I took pictures of boats!

Then there was the Coconut Grove Art Festival, here are some pictures...

I had a great time but a very busy one as well... Today I am off so I am enjoying a 3 day long weekend, I am happy to inform that I am almost over my little "cold" so I am feeling up to enjoying the weekend.
On Sunday we are having a BBQ party to celebrate my birthday #34, lots of food, drinks and friends over, it should be lots of fun.
Today I am finishing making some Mexican Papel Picado banners to decorate the back deck and give it a very "festive" look, of course my papel picado is not a professional one but I think it still looks nice.
example of Papel Picado banners
I will share some tips on how to make them soon as I think it's a neat way to do some crafts and decorate a summer party or even a very boring room.
Yesterday was a very nice day, low key, relaxing and specially cause I was able to get the much needed rest to continue with my busy week. I decided to take a sick day and stay at home and I think that was a good decision.
I receive many calls from my family and got some very amazing messages through facebook and blogger; all of them made my day and much more special one. Here are the most special messages of the day;
My good friend Gonzalo wrote: "Sol, Happy Birthday! I will always associate you with pretty memories, great times laughing, fun party time, delicious food, funny jokes, and the specially feeling to know that miles and year do not make a difference in our life and friendship, you will always be one of my favorite human beings!!! Happy Birthday Sol, love you very much until you are at least 120!!!"
Natalia wrote:"Happy Birthday girl!!! Hope you spend your day in an incredible way, that many years come in company of those who love you. I give thanks to life that gave me your friendship, one that I intend to keep for life. Blessings Sol!
My high school friend Gaby wrote: "May your day be filled with sunshine and the night filled with stars that will shine only for you this special day. Happy Birthday, that this year you will receive much love, good health, joy and blessings that you deserve. Big hugs!
How wonderful is to start another year with such wonderful sentiments coming from all sorts of people, some I see frequently and other not as frequent as I would like, for days like these technology gets my vote of approval all the way!
Oh, what a joy! On a beautiful Wednesday morning just like today but 34 years ago, I first saw the light of day.
Today I am celebrating yet another year of life, and I am glad to say that it's been quite a journey.
So far in these 34 years I've done as best as possible, enjoying every day and every minute of it, surrounded by wonderful people and always holding hands with God.
But I am definitely not lucky but very, very blessed with a wonderful family that I've always taken care of me from the beginning, gave me love, education, trust and specially confidence to always be myself and follow my dreams. My parents also gave me the gift of traveling, through them and their support I was able to travel to many wonderful places and experience life through the eyes of different cultures.
Having a family is not being the only blessing I have in my life, I've always have some very amazing and loyal friends, good bosses and just people that have come and gone, but left very important footprints in my heart and soul.
Later on in life a found a wonderful place to live and an amazing loving man that keeps me company, loves me, cares for me and makes me feel like the happiest woman in the world, I love him dearly!
Now I have this wonderful space to share my thoughts, with wonderful people that come and go, comment and the interaction with them and their blogs make my life even more enjoyable, thanks for those that stop by!
So with that said, who needs presents, right??? But, in case you've already sent me your, not to worry I will still take it!!!
picture not related to post, just another one I took at the show and wanted to share!
As I mentioned yesterday I am back after 5 very busy days of none stop work, working at the MIA boat show, on my feet all day, then setting up the booth for the art show and then selling as much as possible.
Now being back feels great cause I am out of the craziness of a big city, specially the traffic in MIA that is crazy as can be, makes you appreciate even more living in a small Caribbean island, where the only reason there's bad traffic is, because at times we only have one lane to get to places. In MIA (as I'm sure happens in many other big cities), the case is most time while driving in the highway/freeway, you sometimes sit in traffic among 4 or 5 lanes of stopped cars, that's just too much for me.
Also I am happy to be back with my husband and dogs, I missed them every day. I also missed my house, my bed, my pillows and just about everything else in my life...
I have to add up that today and yesterday I've not being feeling very well at all. I feel a weird combination in between worn out, exhausted and getting a cold.
Today I feel as if I'm walking on a tight suspended rope, with a big deep and dark pit underneath my feet and all I am trying to do is balance on my hands; two gallery events, work and sales. I see myself walking away from my lovely comfy bed (where I should be resting) and walking towards Friday when I finally get a day off. Will I make it to the other end or would I fall into exhaustion and sickness? Hope to make it there...
I am doing everything possible to battle getting sick, I bought a 1/2 gallon of OJ and drink it all at work yesterday, drinking echinacea tea for my immune system and lots of water... Now I just need to hang in there for two more days and with a birthday in between, wish me luck!
I'm back home since last night. Back to work today, wishing I had the day off specially because it's going to be another busy week for me.
Florida was good, lots of work, busy time but fun as well. The Miami Boat Show for one day this year was pretty nice, then the art show at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival was one of a kind experience. WOW, all I am going to say today is that we live in a crazy world filled with pretty crazy people... anyway it was fun!
I have lots of pictures to share but first need to actually have time to relax, take my time to decide which ones... but I promise to make the best out my time and share them soon!

Have a great week, mine will be very busy but I'll be in touch!
Today I am leaving to go work in Miami for a few days.
First I will be working the Miami Boat Show, this will be my second year working that event, although this year I will be there for just one day (on Thursday).
Then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will be working at the Coconut Grove Art Festival for the first time ever.
Oh boy, I am so excited and looking forward to that event, can't hardly wait, it's going to be so much fun.... I will have my camera with me at all times so I will be sharing lots of pictures next week.
I expect to be very busy in the next few days so I probably won't have much time to update my blogs... so 'till then, have a great week and an even better weekend!
I think sometimes things sound much better and exotic in French, vous êtes d'accord? (meaning: do you agree?)
Yesterday was a nice day, work was busy and sales were the best in a long time.
In the evening after getting some wonderful Valentine Flowers, chocolate and a card from my husband, we watched one my all times favorite movie, the french movie Amelie.
This movie always makes me happy; love the colors, the music, the cinematography, the little details in certain shots but specially love the messages in it.
Highly recommend this movie in case you've never watch it, and if you have, maybe it's time to give it another try (beware all that have never watch it: movie is in French with English subtitles in case you do not like to read, although it's worth it).
All and all I had a good Valentines and the best part was falling sleep and waking up next to my amazing husband... Thanks baby for being such a huge part of my life, I LOVE YOU!
How was everybody's Valentines? Anything special? Hope it was great!
There many kinds of love; paternal, maternal, brotherly, sisterly, friendly, animal and of course romantic love.
There are many ways to express love and sentiments, but I don't think there should never be an exact time or day to express it. Today is the "official" day to celebrate love, but we still have 364 other days that we could practice at getting even better at it.
In my case I am very blessed to have a wonderful man to share today and every day with; a great family and many fantastic friends...
Hope everybody enjoys today, the "official day" of love but practices every day.... Have a wonderful day!!!
