Friday Letters

The "business" week is officially over in the next few hours and the weekend will be here!!!!

Today I am once again trying the whole "Friday Letters" thing just because it's kinda growing on me... So without further a due;

Dear morning minutes: what is up with you guys? When I am getting ready in the morning a 5 minute lapse feel more like 5 seconds, specially when I'm walking around the house grabbing the last couple of things to go to work, I think it's a conspiracy.

Dear Randon Thursday @ Linny's Vault: Sorry I missed the link up yesterday, so instead I decided to include you today. Yesterday's theme was "Embarrassing Celebrity Crushes", so here are my choices (in no specific order.

#1 Phillip Seymour Hoffman: I know he is a bit chunky but I love all the characters he chooses to play plus he's got this sort of mystery "look" to him.

#2 Darren Criss: Yes I know he is young, I could perhaps be his mother (well if I had kids when I was like 15!)... He is also on Glee (one my favorite shows) and plays a gay highschool boy... But he is still young and has a lot of (hopefully) successful career ahead of him. Oh, did I mention he can carry a tune? Of course, he is on Glee!!!

#3 John Malkovich: Well, I know he can be kinda weird, bad bod type of dude plus he plays crazy roles, I find him very manly and very attractive.

#4 Jack Black: A bit on the chunky side, but all looks apart, he is such a fun guy that I imagine he is very much the same is real life; he can rock, joke and even Kong Fu as a Panda, LOL! Would love to meet him in person.

#5 John Cusack: He is totally the boy next door kind of guy for me, not very good looking but he has a "je ne sais quoi" to him that I really like!

And those are probably my "Embarrassing Celebrity Crushes" [well, that I can think of right now]!

What about you, any embarrassing crushes you'll like to share with me?!?!?

Dear month of February: I am thankful for each and every day you are made off,  specially the 23rd being the day I first saw the light of day about 30ish years ago. But this year I am specially happy that you are only made out of 28 days because that way March 8th is closer and that's the day I will be getting on a plane to head back home to see my family, yipee!

Dear "30 Rock" series: You are officially finished and I will miss you, there's still a piece, well, I should say a BIG piece of you, more like the whole series on my little terra bite computer drive, LOL! So although I could watch reruns of your hilariousness over an over again and for as long as I want, it would never be the same, specially without Kenneth Parcel's wisdom!!!

Dear "A Photo a Day" Photo Blog: I am so sorry I've been slacking lately and not posting very much, promise to do a better job and at least post every day from Monday to Friday.

Dear Readers: If you feel like giving some love to my other blog, please head over there and check out some pretty cool photos, just click here!

Dear Weekend Weather: I hope you continue to be as nice as you've been this past couple of days, specially in the afternoon when the sun is coming down and there's not a cloud in the sky so the sunset greet us with all sorts of colors. We are going to our friends Christian's 40th birthday on Saturday and a sunset cruise is taking us to the party, so you being part of the celebration would be awesome!!!

Happy Weekend!!!

We were Jammin'

Hello Thursday, glad to see you back with another edition of Throwback Thursday.

As yesterday was Bob Marley's birthday today I am sharing a throwback from 2 years ago when The Wailers came to the islands to serenade us on concert!

Not my best photo, but I was so happy to be there, I don't really care how I look!

We had a wonderful time at this concert, specially cause of the company (as my brother and SIL were living on the island), also this is the closest I've ever been to Bob in real life, other that the time I've visit his house/museum in Kingston, Jamaica.

Oh, such great memories and good times!

Now, if you feel like sharing your own throwback, just link next

Happy Thursday!!!

@rt at Governor's

Every year there's a very nice art show at the gardens of the Governors house and this year was not the exception.

We visited on Saturday but unfortunately the "main event" at the garden was not opened yet so we only browsed around the outside "vendors" and I took some photos.

Wished we had stayed longer and visit the gardens, unfortunately we had other errands to run as well as a commitment to visit a new restaurant that just open at a friend's marina... such a nice place as well!

February Fun

Well, the first weekend of February has come and gone but it was such a fun time, so I am going to update day by day, starting today with Friday's party.

Wow, it was a crazy busy day during the day getting ready for Island Air Show, finally made it to the place at 4:30 to try to set up for it. Unfortunately they put in the worst area of the whole hangar, which was right at the service entrance which meant I was unable to set up because there were people coming and going plus it was full of junk from cables, crates, bags, etc...

I do have to say I actually did not take a photo of our display because I wasn't very happy with the final setup, but oh well, it was a fun night anyway!

The party was huge, with lots of people (around 1,500!), there were private planes, helicopters, cars and boat on display among other things...

Here are some photos of the early set up time.

Private Planes

As the night started to kick in, lots of people started to show up...

There were bars for all sorts of taste and desire, a Stolichnaya one, a Martini Tanquerai gin one, a James Bond Heineken one, plus a wine bar too!!!

Plus yummy treats and food everywhere!

treats!

So, as the night went by I decided to just hang out with my private plane, no big deal...

Ah! It was definitely a unique night and very much fun, glad we participated.

On another note, last night we watched the Super Bowl on a pretty nice set up big screen by my friend's pool. It was a good game considering I do not like football or follow it at all but it was fun.

The night was kind of chilly and very windy, I was wearing my "rain coat/wind breaker" the whole night and my husband was also wearing a jacket but earlier on he was already complaining of a sore throat, today he wake up already sick and now he is home officially sick, poor baby, hope he gets well soon!

Hope everybody's weekend was fun too!

Have a great Monday!

Good bye January!

Happy February 1st! We have made it out of January and into this already second month of 2013... Time is surely flying by but I am happy we are where we are as February is my birthday month, so let the celebrations begin...

This year's February also marks the beginning of the Snake year for the Chinese New Year and since I was born in '77 I am also a Snake, so this IS definitely my year...

Talking about celebrations, tonight I will be working at one of the most exclusive "posh" parties of the island, an Air and Car Show taking place at one of the hangars of the airport.

It is an invitation only party but I will be attending (along with my hubby) to work on an art display with some original (very expen$ive) Guy Harvey art. And although we are not allowed to sell the art at the party, we are allowed and encouraged to promote it and make some good networking and contacts, so it should be a good and fun night!

The weekend is also here and although I don't have many plans I do want to finish the amigurumi snake I am working on for the upcoming New Year which starts on Feb. 10th.

We have plans to go over to see the Super Bowl, some friends have invited us to watch it on the big screen by their complexes pool, so that should be fun! Are you watching the Super Bowl? If so, any ideas of what kind of finger food can I bring? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Wishing everybody a fantastic weekend!!!

Tuesday but Monday...

Today is Tuesday but really in my world it's Monday... But that doesn't change the fact that I am linking back to 10 on Tuesday with Linn & Amber.

10.
As I mentioned yesterday,  I can only think of a few other better ways to start the week than with a Holiday on Monday! Yes, yesterday was spend well by doing anything but working, yippe!

9.
Another great way to start the week is by having a giveaway on your blog [check]. So, if for some reason (although I cannot think of any good enough) you were not here yesterday, please click here, or here or even here to sign up for my latest giveaway, thanks!

8.
The weekend (besides yesterday) was very much fun, on Friday went out with the girls (and the hubby) for Boogie Nights, we had a blast and got down to it with the music! Even the hubby danced, WOW, that was a great and wonderful surprise.

7.
Our dog Sheba is doing so much better from her allergy, but now that she is not itching, it kinda looks like she's lost a hobby and she's got way too much time on her paws to just... nap, drink water, eat, bark randomly at nothing and then nap some more. I am glad she is feeling much better though.

 6.
Since I haven't really taken a picture of Sheba lately, instead here's a little portrait a.k.a "masterpiece" hand drawn by me!

5.
You know what really "grinds my gears"? Yesterday we had hamburgers for dinner but when I bough the essentials, meaning buns and patties, either the buns are too small or the patties are way too big. What's up with that? Would it be easier if they are both standard? Is this something that only happens here on the island or is it a worldwide phenomenon? What's your experience in this matter?

4.
On Sunday afternoon we went to the beach and while snorkeling encountered this tiny turtle who just swam by me like waving "hello!".

3.
Also at the beach I took a stroll down the rocks where I found a whole bunch of Silverside little fish, so I decided to put my underwater camera right on the rocks and take a little video of the fish going by.

The video is not the best quality or super excited, but if you feel like watching at least for a bit, here it is.

Also on the video you can see a tiny "Sergent Major" swimming by on the right side of the screen, cute!

 2.
I am currently working on a crochet amigurumi snake in honor of the upcoming Chinese New Year of the Snake... Specially because that is my sign as well... Photos to follow when done!

1.
Well, that's it for 10 on Tuesday, wishing everybody a nice day and DO NOT forget to sign up for my giveaway, please and thank you!!!!

That's right, I am very happy to announce the very first giveaway of the year and although this one time it's not a handmade giveaway (as I usually do), it's something that would be useful through the whole year and will make you think of the little tiny island from where I type this very words.

So what is it? Well, I am very excited to giveaway a 2013 Cayman Watercolours Calendar.

This year calendar comes filled with beautiful local artwork and recipes.

But that is not all, the proceed of the sales of the calendar goes toward two local charities; Cayman Hospice and National Council Voluntary Organizations.

Friday Letters

I've seen this done before, around, in other blogs, and being that I am a "copy-kitty" at heart, decided to give it a go today!

Dear 3 day weekend: Come to Momma! Monday our little islands celebrate National Heroes Day, to me whoever decided to declare it a holiday it's already my Hero, LOL!

Dear Sheba Girly-Girl: you are a wonderful dog and pet, even with everything you went through this week and having to wear a cone for at least a week, you still give us kisses every time you get the chance and are always in great spirits, looove you!

Dear Boogie Nights: I am so happy you are back and tonight we will be "boogieing" the night away while we celebrate Emma's birthday. So, let's boogie!

Dear Alicia Keys: nothing personal, but at this point feel free to "crash and burn" because of the amount of times your "Girl on Fire" song is playing on the radio daily, I can't stand it any longer.

Dear Black Tiger Extra Bold Coffee: I LOVE YOU! And although I only drink you while at work because you only come on Keurig coffee pod form, Oh how I wish you be sold in coffee bean form to also enjoy you at home. Also, thank you CoffeePeople for bringing me joy via this wonderful coffee every morning!

Dear bathroom scale: I do not dread our encounters anymore! It's been more than a month since I entered the "maintenance phase" of my diet and so far every morning you've been cooperating, yesterday my weight was even 1 lb down, so thanks for keeping me encourage and partnering with the mirror, you guys rock!

Dear Alarm Clock: Why oh Why is it so hard to enjoy your morning serenades? Specially on a day like today when you go off at 5:55 so I can make to the 6:30 gym class, it is a painful time but very worth it so that way I can keep up a good relationship with Ms. Bathroom Scale, so thanks for doing your part!

Dear tectonic activity [aka Earthquakes] in Costa Rica: Please STOP! There's been so many earthquakes back home this past week that it is frightening, some a not very strong and people some times don't feel them but yesterday morning they had a 5.3 and another a bit weaker... I am very scared of them and I am thinking of going home in March, so please pretty please God, make them stop, thank you!

Dear Blog readers: thank you for keeping up with me and actually act as if you care about anything that I say write about, you guys make this whole blogging thing so worth it, have a wonderful weekend!!!

Good to see you again!

Almost 3 years ago (to the day) I had a visit from one my readers that came to the island on a cruise ship and stopped by the gallery where I work to say hello.

Well yesterday, to my surprise, Barbara came back to see me once again and it was great to see her... I tried to take an updated photo with her but she refuse saying the last one was pretty bad (I don't think so though!)... So, today I am sharing a blast from the past from January 20th, 2010 when she was here first.

Sorry Barbara for re-posting the much dreaded photo... But it was great seeing you again!!!

I made her promise that next time she will tell me the exact date she is coming so I can have some time off, shower her a bit around the island and take her to meet Ditto & Sheba plus the Magnificent Seven (our cats!)...

So, this goes for Barbara and for anybody that wants to come visit... But if you can spare more time and stay longer, you are welcome too, just let me know with enough time to set it all up.

Now, feel like linking up and sharing a blast from YOUR past?

Have a great Thursday!

10 on...

It is that time of the week again, when I link back to Linny and Amber for some 10 on Tuesday!

10.
There's nothing like starting the week a winner... Yesterday I received an email from the lovely Hallie from "Life: Oceanside" notifying me that I won one of her special giveaway on her blog, thanks girl!

9.
So, I had plans to go away for my weekend but now it looks like something has come up for work and that really pisses me off, specially because it's always around my b-day and this year I really wanted to go away... So, instead I am going to have to shorten my trip but I refuse to cancel!

8.
Lately my Outlook at work is giving me lots of grief, acting up by not downloading messages, it tries but then it stays at around 95% and I have to close it and reopen it every time for it to get it done. In theory it was fixed last week but it really wasn't.

7.
Yesterday my friend brought up her little boy Joshua to pick up his lil' penguin and he loved it... I am sure he will be using it like a ball and will have a blast with it. It was great to see his happy face when he got it, worth all the work involved in make it!!!

6.
A few weeks ago I got this awesome photo from my brother (who lives in Costa Rica near a huge National Park/Primary Forest), there he took this photo with his remote camera which is about 500ft from his house...

No, that is not a the common house cat, but it is a feline, in fact it's a Ocelot which is sort of a leopard and jaguar but much smaller... pretty cool, uh?

5.
As some of you know, all of my children have paws and each and every single one is very unique, so when it comes to petting them, I couldn't help but chuckle at the following "chart" on petting etiquette according to animal...

4.
This morning I had to take our dog Sheba to the vet, she's had this skin allergy for a while and Vet has been unable to give us a good diagnostic and treatment, so we changed Vets. The ended up leaving her in to clean the problem in her tail and I will have to pick her up later... with a cone included, poor girl!

3.
Friday is "Boogie" time, we are going out to celebrate a friends birthday at a place where they have "Boogie Nights" which is all 70's music, it should be fun!

2.
I feel as if there's too much month left on my paycheck as of today, and it's only the 22nd so payday is not even close, sucks!

1.
Sometime thinking of 10 things to share here it's hard... And lately once I've press the "Publish" button I end up thinking of other stuff... Oh well, 'till next time!

Have a great Tuesday!
