55 it is!

Photo challenge day 55 is here and today is about- A picture of the last movie you saw in theaters.

Well, although I posted about it just a few days ago, here is goes again. The last movie I saw in theaters was "Water for Elephants" and I loved it.

It was a wonderful story about entertainment, the magic of circus living, love, passion and specially animal compassion. I really enjoyed it and can't wait until is out on dvd so I can own a copy.

Here's a video (courtesy of youtube.com) with the trailer for those that feel like checking it out.

Also on another note about animals, today I want to share some very cool pictures of a very cool animal that I've encounter myself in the wild before, many people probably never really seen one, there are quite a few in Costa Rica and they are fairly harmless (pictures were sent to me by a friend from back home).

Here it is, can you guess what kind of animal it is???

Now, when this animal gets scared, he becomes like a ball for protection and "camouflage"... like this:

Pretty cool, right?

Well, if you guessed right, then you know that it is an Anteater. I believe they are related to sloths and armadillos and sort of looks like a Aardvark but not quite.

Well, like any other animals I think they are fabulous and wish one day again I get to see one in the wild!

Have a great Saturday!!!

deserted?

Photo Challenge Day 54 - A picture of the one thing you would bring if you were stranded on a deserted island.

Well, if I was to be stranded on and island it probably wouldn't be by choice, so it's not like I would literary bring something, but nevertheless if I was giving the option of bringing just one thing, I think it would go for...

a blanket!!!

Yeah I guess I could also bring some kind of tool to help me cut stuff.  But I just feel a blanket could protect me from the cold at night, mosquitoes, from the sun during the day (in case I need shade), and I can also use it as a pillow...

Of course you can't really open a coconut with a blanket, or start a fire, but it would surely make my nights and perhaps days much more comfortable.

What about you? What would you bring to a deserted island (that is not a person)???

************************

So now that the Royal Wedding is over, Kate Middleton asks the queen "what's the secret to a long and happy marriage?" to which she replies "wear a seatbelt and don't piss me off"!!!!!!! LOL

Just a little joke to put us in the spirit of "royal love", hahaha...

Happy weekend to everybody!!!!

Hot or Not?

Photo Challenge Day 53- A picture of someone you think is HOT!

Well, since I've used my husband plenty of times for this challenge, I guess I am going to have to go with another person that is hot, but of course, not as hot and wonderful as my hubby, plus not as lucky cause he doesn't have me as a wife, LOL!

A person that I think is also very steaming hot is no other than Robert Downey Jr. I mean, look at him dirty and all, I'll take him!

Not only he is hot, but also charming, stylish and sexy... Every since I saw him in "Less than Zero" back in 1987 I've always found him to be one of the best looking man in Hollywood. And like a good red wine, he's only getting better with age!

Besides being good looking, he's also a pretty good actor. I am glad he got his life in order after a few years of "not so good" behavior, looks like he is much happier now too!!!

What do you think of R.D. Jr? Hot or not???

On another note, did I mentioned how excited I am about the upcoming Royal Wedding????

No I didn't, because I am not excited at all!!!

I mean don't get me wrong, it's not like I am not happy for Will and (mhhh... is it Kate?) yes, Kate. It's just that it doesn't really makes much a difference in my life and in theirs, if I am excited or not about their event.

Besides, I love to sleep so I could probably say there are not that many good reason why I would wake up at 3 am to see a wedding broadcast. So there, I said it.

Now, if this revelation makes you decided to stop reading or even following my blog, so be it, I guess it's going to be a burden I'm going to have to live with, for the rest of my days... LOL!

Any who... Now to some more interesting and amazing events, tomorrow is Friday and believe or not the Cayman Island being a British colony has declared it national holiday, as if! Oh well, I will have to work but just from 9am to 3pm, then the weekend arrives, THAT I'm excited for!!!

Have a great day!!!

Dejavu Day

Day 51- A picture of your favorite Sport.

No, I am not having dejavu, this day on my photo challenge is already happened, on day 10 it asked for the same exact thing, so if you feel like reading that again, click here.

But if you don't feel about reading about my favorite sport then stick around as today I am going to "get crazy" and post beyond my photo challenge for a change!

Monday night my hubby & I, went out on a date. first we had an "early bird" dinner at a very nice place called Michael's Genuine Restaurant, the food was good and the place is very nice.

I believe it is the "sister" restaurant of another one located in Miami, Florida.

For food, we both had the house salad that was simply delicious (arugula lettuge, chucks of bacon, apricots, walnuts, feta cheese and some kind of vinaigrette), then I had a seafood gumbo and my husband had a peppered steak with mash potatoes.

The restaurant is located at a very nice area in George Town called Camana Bay, a place fulls of retail stores, offices, restaurants, coffee shops, outdoor fountains, kids playgrounds, a marina and cinemas.

But back to Michael's it is a very nice place, food was good, atmosphere was great and it offers both indoor and outdoor sitting.

We had a great time and I think we might be back again.

After dinner we went to the movies and watched "Water for Elephants" and I loved it. It's a great story (heard the book is better, as always!), the actors did well and specially Reese Witherspoon was perfect for the part she played.

I recommend this movie and I think I might try to get my hands on the book as well...

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

get out of my dreams, get into my car!

Day 51- A picture of your dream car.

Since dreaming is free (unlike most things nowadays), when it comes to dreams I have a few, so when it comes to dream cars I have at least 2.

One is a "manly" looking car but one that I would love to have in a place where there lots of mountains, lots of rough terrains and mud to drive it with passion. If live in such place (like my home country Costa Rica) I would totally love to have this car...

4 or 2 door would do... and in any color!
Now, for a more modern, girlie look my choice would be, a simple but beautiful car, a new VW Beetle, convertible or not!
this is the car that I would really LOVE to have!

Now, I guess I'm not very posh for when it comes to dream cars, and it's not that I don't think BMW's, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar and many of the other luxurious cars out there are not nice.

But, if I was to go beyond the dream and make it a reality these would definitely be my first choices, specially because having a car is not just driving it, you have to clean it, give it maintenance and pay for gas... so I guess as long as it's a dream car I could afford any of those, otherwise, not!!!

Talking about gas prices, here on the island it's out of control, ck out the picture I took at a gas station around the island... LOL!

Have a great day!!!

50 today!

Testing 1,2,3... testing 1,2,3... "Is this thing on?" Can you read me now??? It's been so quiet around my blog lately, not many comments that I am even doubting if there's anybody else around. Hope this means people out and about or resting during this past few days...

Anywho... I did it! I've made it to half way on my 100 Day Photo Challenge, and I am specially proud to say that I've not missed a single day so far... now part 2 of this challenge starts tomorrow.

Today's photo challenge is kind of weird, it calls to post a picture of what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Now, since I am not clairvoyant it would be hard to tell, but I am hoping I would be; waking up, eating breakfast, driving to work and selling lots and lots of art. Also I would probably be blogging.

On another note. I am starting to think about the next giveaway and I hope I'll be announcing it soon, so stay tuned.

And last but not least, today's my Moms Birthday, so I would like to mention it today, as she is a very, super special person in my life, and without her I just plain wouldn't be here today, I LOVE YOU MAMI!!!

Hope everybody had a blessed Easter Week!

West Bay, Cayman Islands

Photo Challenge Day 49 is today. It's amazing to think that tomorrow I will be 1/2 done with the photo challenge. At times it seems fun but at times there are certain challenges that seem kind of weird but I will prevail and continue posting a picture as best as I can.

Today's photo challenge is: A picture of where I live.

Well, for those that don't know where I live, our house is located in West Bay, Cayman Islands and if where coming on a plane from the North (usually Miami, Houston, etc), this is where I live.

pretty nice, isn't it???
Well, now that you know where I live, please feel free to come visit anytime, see you soon...

Happy Sunday and beginning of a new week for all!!!

Late Post

Date 48 of the Photo Challenge is A picture of your favorite actress/actor.

My choices would be: For actress:

Kate Winslet
And for actor, I am in between;

Phillip Seymour Hoffman
And also I really like him...

Kevin Spacey

Those would be my choices... Although there are many other talented actors/actresses that I like to. Once again I am not a person of "total favorites" so that's why I don't really have just one.

How about you? Who are your favorites?

Happy Weekend : )

Day 47

Today's Photo Challenge is to post "A picture of your favorite place to shop".

It's not that I don't like shopping, a mean c'mon I am a girl and I love shopping but in this case I don't really a favorite place to shop and for the following reasons:

a. I live on a Caribbean island where most shops consist of: Souvenir stores, t-shirt store, perfume stores or jewelry stores.
b. You can't find everything that you want concentrated in one place because there's not such thing as a Mall.
c. Everything is at least 2 (maybe even 3) times more expensive than most places in the world.

So in this case I really do not have a photo of an actual store to post...

I do have to say I love online shopping, specially here...

Amazon
I love amazon because I can find lots of stuff and lots of great deals at the same place, I've had an account with them for over 10 years and not once I've had trouble with them or any of their orders.

In fact one time the sent me the same DVD twice and when I called to tell them I was in the Caribbean and could really return it, they told me to keep it and they didn't even charged me for it!

So I guess that store falls into my category of  favorite ones to shop at.

Oh, I almost forgot, HAPPY EARTH DAY (Easter version), "May we all do something everyday, to help our planet get in better shape".

the place to be

Day 46 of my photo challenge: A picture of where you wish you were right now.

For today's challenge I am going to go with this... "Sun, Sand, Sea, a Hammock, Pillows and even cold Champagne", I believe this is where I would like to be today.

Have a wonderful day and wonderful Easter Weekend... I am off work tomorrow but I'll still be around to post!!!

in my room

Photo Challenge Day 45- A picture of how you wished your room looked like.

Well, I wish it would look neat and spotless clean, LOL!

But c'mon it's not like I can actually post a picture of THAT! Well, unless I actually spot clean and sort out my messy room,  aaaaand then post it. Sorry I got news for y'all: that ain't happening today... unless I happen to run into a Genie in a bottle, so then maybe I can wish for that!

I actually like our room very much, the only things I would change is a higher ceiling (because I love rooms/houses with high ceiling), a little bigger and with more storage space... but other than that I am happy with it.

But one can only dream and wish without having to pay a big price... So for your eyes only (as this post do not contains either audio or smell), here are some pretty awesome room and bed where I could totally lay my bones every night!!!

for the white/classic look lovers... I would choose this one (notice the high ceiling)

for the more modern dark wood look, this is fab (again with the ceilings!)
So there you have it, my choices of "how I wish my bedroom would look like". Have a great day!!!

Face double?

Have you ever noticed that when people say you look like somebody you can't see it at all?

Today's Photo Challenge is: A picture of someone you've told you look alike.

In my case a couple of time people have said I look like the Mexican actress Salma Hayek (I wish!), but I definitely don't see it...

One time in the US, I walked into a Circuit City with my husband and Mother in Law, while they were shopping I was just browsing around the store (back then I was about 15 lbs lighter and I am about 5'4), this day I was wearing this big, dark sunglasses and a hat. All of a sudden this store clerk started following me but would not approach me... Finally another girl (store clerk) approached me and after talking for a few minutes, she said: Are you Salma Hayek? Say whaaat?

My friend Jason used to call me Salma after he watch "Fools Rush In" but I always though he was just messing with me...well, guess he's not the only one that sees it. I still don't!

So yesterday while thinking about today's blog I went to this website where you upload a photo and they will match you with a celebrity... well, guess who was my match? Salma Hayek!

Here is my result:

All I am going to say is, Salma wishes she could look like me, LOL!!! Do you see any resemblance?

Have a great Tuesday!

Day 43

From this...

then this...

and finally to this...

Today's photo challenge is- Post a Picture of something you can't function without... COFFEE!!!

Some might say that is bad, some coffee drinkers might agree with me that is good. There's always been all sorts of versions and points of view about the negative effects of coffee and then there's others that advocate the healthy benefits of it...

Well, to me the worst coffee is the one you don't have.

I simply love and enjoy drinking coffee. Yeah, maybe it's not entire the best thing to drink but is not like I only survived by drinking coffee, I don't, I drink plenty of water, take my vitamins, each my veggies, etc, etc, etc...

Although I don't drink as much coffee as I used to, at this point in my life I have about 1/2 a cup at home in the mornings and then one cup at work (every day) and that's about it... it could be worst, right???

Anyway, I could think of other worst things to be dependable on (like drugs, alcohol, cell phones...), mine is just pure, delicious taste that gets me going in the morning.

Have a great day, week and beyond...!!!

Sunday, April 17, 2011

I could live here...

Day 42- A picture of your dream house.

Well, once again I am not sure if I have a "dream house", because dreams can change the minute you see something you liked better the day before, plus dreams are infinite if that is what you want them to be, right???

But, if I was to try to put into worlds a "dream house" I guess it would have some or all of the following elements;

- It would have to be close to either ocean of forest... no city living for my dream house.

- High ceilings with lots of fans for air circulation.

- BIG family room, spacious and with few walls.

- BIG windows to let the sun shine in and the surroundings be part of the house decoration.

If I was to go with an architectural style, I guess my favorite is the Mexican Modern look, with thick stucco walls and many colors or just plain white... Sort of these styles.

stucco walls is the way to go!

white with color decoration makes every look nice and simple

intense color and contrast with the surrounding nature is the way to go!

outdoor areas are a must

BIG family rooms for everybody's enjoyment
So, I guess that would be close to my dream house... now when it comes to a HOME, I believe my life is pretty close to me dreams!!!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

i heart my pets

Today's photo challenge comes natural to me as it requires to: Post a picture of your pet(s).

Well, if you've read my blog for at least a week, you'll know how much I love my dogs, I really enjoy and cherish their company so I'm constatly posting their picture here.

So here they are, once again (and I'm sure it won't their last time), my lovely dogs; Ditto & Sheba!

Ditto & Sheba: "do we really  have to do this?" Me: STAAAAY!

Ditto: "Stop acting so cute Sheba, otherwise we'll be here forever!"

Ditto: "are we done already? getting bored here..."

Ditto: "o.k. Sheba get closer, I think this might be the last one..."

Are they adorable??? Besides they are such good sports for when it comes for their Momma to take their picture... I love them!

Have a great Saturday!!!

Day 40 - check!

Today's Photo Challenge- A picture of my favorite Disney character.

Well, I don't think I've ever considered that I have a favorite Disney character, but if I was to choose one, I believe the Cheshire Cat from the original Alice in Wonderland movie from 1951 is the one.

Although, I also love the new Tim Burton's version of 2010 and I think Chessur (as the cat is called on the new version) is also pretty cool!

I think this characters has lots of good attributes; first and for most he is a cat, he has cool color stripes, a big huge smile, he has evaporating properties, but also he is kind of crazy and mysterious.

So, there you have it, he is definitely my number 1 in this case!!!

Have a great weekend!

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Day 39- A picture of your favorite movie

Today's challenge in a way is kind of hard for me, but not because I don't like movies or because I don't have a favorite one. The problem is, I don't really have just one favorite.

I've never been one of those people that have "absolute favorites" in their life and specially when it comes to movies. I like all sorts of movies; comedy, animations, drama, action and I specially love movies based on real facts...

But, for today's purpose I am going to go with the movie, "Finding Nemo", which is definitely on  my top ten of all times favorite ones.

I like this movie because it's got great animation, the colors are vivid and the reef scenes are very well made. The plot is entertaining all the way, with good enough story for kids but also some adult humor as well.

My favorite character is Gill, because he is the tanks leader, he's experienced (coming from the ocean), he's dark but also has a tender side as well!

So yeah, I guess that would be my choice for today, and although is not my #1 in the book, it's pretty close to be one my favorites. What's your favorite movie???

On another note; Thanks to all my reader/blogger friends that gave me their opinion about the new banner on my blog. I am going to keep this one for a while and until is time for a change again.

Happy Thursday to all!!!

New Look

Just changed the header image of my blog and I could really use your opinion as I'm not 100% sure I like it...

I guess my doubts are mainly because once I upload the photo to the actual blog, the image looses resolution and it looks sort of out of focus, wadda ya think?

Any constructive criticism is gladly welcomed and accepted, thanks!!!

UPDATE

Oooops, actually I just changed it again and I like it much better, now it's got much better resolution and focus... Comments are more than welcome, thanks!!!

1,2,3,4,5...38!

I've been so caught up on the photo challenge lately that I kind of miss blogging. What I don't miss is trying to come up with a good subject or something worth sharing with y'all, as knowing that a photo challenge is taking care of that part, although I do miss sharing some stuff... so I guess today I am going to go beyond the Photo Challenge and share with you a little bit of what I've been doing lately.

As I probably mention it before, we had family here for a couple of days so we were "playing tourists" around the island, did some shopping, visited the Turtle Farm and even the museum (which I've never been to before).
from left: Diane, Me and Janet (my mother in law)
turtles at the Turtle Farm
Turtle Farm Salt Water Lagoon area
We also had an awesome party at my brother's new house, a very big and posh "mansion" that they are house sitting for a few months until the rich owners come back in about 6 to 8 months... ck out their place.

pretty fancy, uh?

pool party @ my brother's new place!

Now, going back to the Photo Challenge.

It's pretty amazing that I'm already on day # 38 as it feels like it was just yesterday that I decided to take on this long challenge... because I mean, 100 days is pretty long, don't you think? I know for sure that many other activities I've tried in the past haven't even last that much, so it's pretty exciting that I've been so consistent with something... finally!!!

Well, today's challenge is a photo of my favorite time of the day... In my case it means when after a days work and driving about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes in island traffic, I pull into our road and I see our dogs (and something my husband) waiting for me in the front deck... Aaaahhhh, that means I'm home, where my heart is, my castle, my refuge, my own private Idaho!!!

I love that time of day, when I get greeted with love and happiness... how about you? What's your favorite time of the day???? Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Day 37 already!

Today I am back to work after a few days off, and I have to say that I feel very well rested and happy to be back to a job that I really enjoy doing.

Today's photo challenge comes at the right time as it consist of posting A picture of the people I spend most of my time with. In this case it's my fellow staff members, all girls.

Here's a picture of us all, it was taken last year for our boss's Christmas Card.

from top left: Jessie, Susan, Me, Waldina & Sabrina.
Have a great day!!!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Delicious Sunday

Today the photo challenge is about posting a picture of my favorite place to eat.

Well, I could post a picture of a couple of restaurant where I like to eat, but if it comes to my favorite place I am going to go with my #1 place and food, which is here...

MY MOM'S KITCHEN!!!
I love everything about my Mom's cooking and eating there is always delicious, enjoyable and with the best of company. I am sure plenty can relate to this feeling, right?

If you are ever in Costa Rica, make sure to contact me so you can go visit "La Cocina de Lorena" (see the sign on the picture above? that was made by my husband and me for my Mom's kitchen)... I am already dreaming of my next time there and looking forward to some "comfort food"....Buen provecho!

Have a delicious Sunday :)
