Friday Letters

Dear Friday: what's up with your weather today, woke up to a very windy and rainy morning, hopefully the weather improves through the day and specially tonight as I have a girlfriend's party celebration to attend!

Anyway, despite the weather...

Dear first Pool we've owned: Yesterday was the beginning of your demise and now you are lying there just about ready to be put down and sent to the dump. You've been great and have given many refreshing hours of entertainment, and now you will be replaced!

please do not ask about the empty mustard container, wtf!

Dear You Tube: I don't know where or how my life would be without you, specially when I find hilarious and useless videos like the following one.

Dear cat in the previous video: You are totally rocking that "Rumba" vaccum, love how you just sit there in your Shark suit and be... perhaps it's because you are just in shock that somebody made you wear that suit, LOL!

Dear Ditto: At this point we are not sure if you are seriously ill or just trying to get away with shitting on our porches, but you have got to stop, tomorrow is your next vet appointment and hopefully we will be able to get this issue resolved and you stop pooping on our porch.

Dear Ortaheel sandals; you totally rock and are so comfortable without entirely sacrificing the good looks. The fact that I have a bulge disk on my back makes me not wanna wear just any kind of shoes, specially every day at work when I have to be on my feet a lot... so thank you from the bottom of my feet, LOL!

Dear 2nd Dad Manrique: Happy Birthday to you... I love you and look up to you so much, you have been beyond a father figure in my life since I can remember, besides you are my Godfather, my friend, my teacher and my mentor... Wish you a wonderful day today and every day for the rest of your life, may God continue to bless you and us with your presence for many years!!!

Dear readers: As we fast approach the closing of April, may you enjoy the last weekend of this month, and remember to enjoy every minute of it!

Happy Friday & Weekend y'all!

Random Thursday

Today I am linking back to

And today's topic is...

When it comes to splurging I guess it's pretty much genetically impossible for women to not do this every now and then, right?

And although I don't really consider myself a "big splurg-er" mainly because we don't have many options on this little island I do every now and then give it a go!

Lately I've seem to be very much into nail polish...

It's just that every time I see a cool color, I kinda have to have it, I mean there are so, so, so many colors out there nowadays, how could I not get them, right? Even if I am not into super well manicured nails, it's better to at least have to option to get them done if I feel like it, right?

I remember when I was a little girl, my Grandmother will always, I mean always will have her nails done, but back then the only colors around where pretty much, red and darker shades of red and perhaps silvery white for the tip or the design...

But nowadays, you can find pretty much any color imaginable to men kind, and I love it... So yeah, I tend to splurge on that.

Another think I feel that I am a big splurg-er is Gifts for family and friend... I seriously LOVE to give and whenever I am going away to visit family I tend to buy one too many gifts for people, to the point that my luggage is overweight even before I take the trip or even before I put my clothes in!

To give you an example, exactly 3 years ago to the day, my Mom turn 60 years old, I bought her 60 presents (you can read about it here), one for every year of her life....

It took me about 4 months to gather them all, most were small little token and other a bit bigger ones...

When I traveled to see her, I took a whole bag full of of the gifts (already packed) on the plane and because each gift was already packed I had to make a list with photos of every times so things would go smooth on security... it all made it and Mom loved everything I gave her (read about it here).

And I think that is it... Well, perhaps I also like dresses, shoes, I was once into scarves, but c'mon I live in a Caribbean Island where the average temperature is probably 80 degrees, LOL!

So, that's it for my Splurge items (I guess!)....

On a different note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMI, I love you with all my heart and you are a living Angel in my life!!!

Happy Thursday to all :)

Let the fishing begin...

Last night I volunteered at the Cayman Islands International Fishing Tournament Sign Up Party.

Party area, nobody there yet!
The party was held at the beautiful Barcadere Marina - George Town Yacht Club from 6pm to 9pm. Initially I had plans to stay just for a bit but it was so busy that I ended up staying the whole time and didn't get home until 9:45pm.

View of the Barcadere Lighthouse

There was a beautiful yacht called "Viva Mas" (which means "Live More") parked right in front of the club house.

It's a beauty, isn't it? It's got 5 rooms, yacuzzi and all... If you feel like drooling even more check out the slide show of the yacht on this link here.

Well, nothing much to post about today, it's Wednesday so we are getting closer to the weekend!!!

Happy Hump Day!

10 on tuesday

Let's get to it, shall we?

1. I posted this on Facebook yesterday:

What's up with the people that every time they ask you a question after you answer they say, "really"?... No, not really, everything I say is a joke or a lie!

Guess what people commented:

Really?

2. This image makes me happy... in fact if I am ever depressed I think I might print it and put it in my room.

3. This is my latest crochet amigurumi, an Octopus that was requested by my 2nd Dad Manrique, his birthday is this coming April 26th and my Mom's on April 25th...

I already sent them their gifts so the Octopus is going to have to wait until the next time we meet (hopefully August).

4. Our dog Ditto is been very sick lately, we are not sure if he has a pinch nerve in his back so he has trouble sitting/laying down, so we started him on this treatment that has upset his stomach really bad and it's been pooping blood and vomiting... We discontinued that treatment and started him on another plus a rice diet to see if he gets better... Please keep him in your prayers, he is old an he need all the good vibes he could get, thanks!

5. My boss (our store Manager) has officially resigned, so as of May 10th we are no longer working with her, I wish her all the luck in her future and specially with her family business (main reason why she is leaving), but for now it looks like we are going to be in "limbo" for a while as we don't know who will take over... We shall see what life brings!

6. Saw this thing on Pinterest the other day, not sure if it's true but since I am starting to look for ticket deals for our vacation on August, I thought it might come in handy...

7. I took this photo a while ago, can you tell what it is?

It's a Mango tree flower from a tree on our back yard, I took the photo from our deck in the second floor... Doesn't it look like a snowflake?!?!? I think so...

8. In case you wanted to know, no, I am not into Game of Thrones tv series, I once tried watching it but it is way to aggressive and since some horses got pretty badly hurt on what I think was the second episode, it just didn't do it for me....

9. But, Dexter, that is another story... Yeah I know it's a bloody series (very bloody indeed), but after the first season I was hooked... Can't wait until the next season starts!

10. Dunno if this is real, but I think it's a great ideal, to become a tree after your life is done, then in your branches birds can rest and bugs can eat parts of you to survive, sounds nice!

Happy Tuesday!

Home is where the heart is...

Now, the question at this point should be: What can you do for Planet Earth? and definitely NOT the other way around, as we are already abusing and misusing so much of this wonderful dear planet of ours.

I am happy to report that yesterday we did the extra effort and help out our little piece of "earth" by cleaning a little bit of this tiny island... Unfortunately one day cleaning is just not enough as there is so much more that needs to be done.

The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation organized a cleaning day to honor Mother Earth on Earth Day and although we only had 10 volunteers we managed to clean some of the mangroves near the North Sound. Our efforts were great as we collected about 20 bag of 40 gallons each plus other big garbage (like pieces of boats and even a big oil drum.

Here are some photos of the day...

Trash pick up!

We had two boat, one for passengers and one for all the trash...

My hubby helped out on a Kayak and did a great job! - Thanks babe!

Ready to go to the dump...

Overall it was a great day and a great effort... Great Job team!!!

Now, what have you done for your earth lately? Even if it's smaller effort we have to keep on trying to give back to this wonderful home of ours... But one day is not enough, so let's practice what we preach!
