Yesterday we went to the beach for a while, I did a little snorkeling. A couple of weeks ago we were at the same spot and I found this anemone

but yesterday I went to the same spot and the anemone is gone (as they move around), I still got to see many common yellow grunts (and a few other fish).

but as you can see, mostly yellow grunts!!!

Waiting to inhale

Today is Sunday and after a very busy work week plus getting the gallery event organized and ready (last Thursday) the weekend felt like when you dive in the pool and then you come up waiting to inhale again...

Now another week starts and I'm sure because Christmas is just around the corner is only going to get busier!

TGIF 'cause IAE!

Yes, it's Friday and I Am Exhausted!

Yesterday's gallery event was good, we sold a few pieces but nothing very big and I think the main reason for that is because there was so many people there, so people do not have enough space to really focus on the art so instead they focus more on the drinks, the food and the conversation.

But all in all we are very confident that the event is going to generate a halo effect and have people come by in December to purchase some of the new pieces that we have available.

So, that pretty much covers it all, but the fact that today I am just exhausted, worked hard for many days before the event, then this morning everything had to get back to normal so lots to do... What keeps me going is the fact that today is Friday.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow...

I am a veryWork is being crazy busy because we are getting ready for our Holiday Event at the gallery tomorrow at 6:30pm, we have over 60 people RSVP so we expect it to be quite nice.

Today was a very busy day and I finally manage to get a post done by 10pm, tomorrow is going to be even busier so I am not get around to post at all, more updates on the event on Friday... 'til then!

Are we there yet?

December has finally arrived and so has the Christmas lights, trees and even an early gift for me. I finally got a brand new (second hand) car to upgrade my little one, check out my new ride, it's a Honda CR-V 2001, u like?

I am very happy and excited, unfortunately I still don't have it under my name, so for today is staying parked at home until I get around to do all the registration/insurance, then tonight after work we will take it for a ride.

Besides my early Christmas this year, I decided that today being Tuesday and the first day of December, I am going to post a picture of a local Christmas Tree and I will do so every Tuesday to show the world out there how Grand Cayman looks and celebrate this season, so here's the tree #1:


This little tree was found in a local nursery/store call "Every Blooming Thing", I love it because it is very simple, no lights and really reflects the woods (maybe cause it's made out of wood)... well I just love it and hopefully you like it too!

And in other news, today is my 150 blog post, yoo-hoo! It's unbelievable how fast time flies and that I've been able to find the time, the energy and specially the inspiration to share parts of my life, my ideas and just random thought with the world through blogger. Thanks to all of you that come by my blog, read it and maybe even leave a comment!

Besides that I also have to mention that being already in December, today's date marks the official end of the hurricane season and that makes me very happy because it was a very quiet season, hoping for a same or even better one next year!

Maniac Monday

The weekend was good but now we are back to Monday and I foresee this one to be a pretty Maniac one, for one thing it is the 30th so it's Pay Day, then we are a day away from December so I expect this to be a busy day at work.

Anyway, back to the weekend, it was a good one, pretty cool weather for the Caribbean as we have a cold front around, so it was also very windy.

I apologize to those out there that actually take the time to stop by my blog, read it and even some times leave a comment, I've been kind of away from my blog mostly because my shoulder injury (the one I talked about here) is back with a vengeance so I was in a great deal of pain on Friday and even Saturday, I think that typing as well as using the mouse makes it worst. So I iced it a lot during the weekend and feel much better today. Went to the hospital on Friday afternoon to get some x-rays and I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning to find out what they say, wish me luck!

So on the weekend, besides staying away from the computer and typing a lot, we went to check out some cars as I've been wanting to buy a bigger car for a while. We checked out two 2002 Jeep Liberty's (which I think is a fab looking car) but they are kind of too high for our budget and then yesterday evening we saw a 2001 Honda CRV and I think this might be the one... We shall see, I'll keep u guys posted!

Anyway, back to Maniac Monday, hope I'm mistaken and it's actually a quiet one, like the hurricane season this year, that by the way ends up officially tomorrow, Yoo-hoo!!!

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving holiday is not really part of my culture (as I was born in Costa Rica), still, I believe today's holiday is easy to "adopt" as I think giving thanks is an essential part of daily life.

Everyday I give thanks for everything; for walking up, for my life, for all of my relationships (human, animal and even plant- some have come and gone, others are still here and some I'm going to encounter in the future), my job, my health, and many more blessing that I have received over the years.

So today besides spending time with family and eating lots of good food, I will give thanks with an open heart, but not forgetting to give thanks to YOU for being here today and every day that you visit my blog!!!

What's your super power?

At least once in a lifetime people think (or desire) to have a super power.

In my case that desire has changed a few times. At the beginning ( like most people) I liked the idea of flying, high up in the sky (then as a teenager some of us also experienced other ways to get high, LOL!)...


Then that desire of flying changed, not that I don't think is not a good idea anymore, but because I learned how to swim (around age 5), first at the pool and then at the sea.

Once I discovered the sea, I begin to enjoy the water, the waves, the surf and later in life also discovered the beauties of the underwater world, so my super power changed from flying to breathing under water.

And I mean breathing like fish do, so you can go down and stay there for as long as you want. I guess the closest humans can get to this type of power is by scuba diving, which I also got to do later in life and now is part of my daily life, so in a way I kind of have that super power now!

But also when I think about this kind of "super power" I can't help but think about the amazing Tanya Streeter, a Cayman woman that holds the world record for free diver with an ability to hold her breath for 6 minutes, imagine that!

The other day a friend of mind shared this beautiful and literally breathtaking video of her swimming with humpback whales... (video quality is not that good, but if you go to her facebook page you can see the video with a much better quality).



Isn't she amazing??? Doesn't she kind of have that super power I was talking about before????

There are many other super powers I think people might be into, but not me, like reading people's minds, or moving things with their minds, become invisible, and more... I'm not saying those aren't cool either, but not for me.

Lately I've been thinking that there's one super power that I would love to have, the ability to speak/communicate with animals. Wouldn't that be cool? To know what they think, feel, and imagine all the knowledge that you can gain, but not to be their leader but to be more one on one with them, I'm sure that they would be able to teach me so much.

So far I think I have a pretty good relationship with them and I can get myself understood, but not as much as I'll like.

I do think though that people in the past and still in our life time have that super power;

Jane Goodall

Cesar Milan

Kevin Richardson (the Lion whisperer)

And even the late Steve Irwin (R.I.P)

So, yeah, that would be the one super power I would like to have. Maybe I would change again in the future, but to me, animals are up there in the top 5 things I love the most, so I don't think that would change any time soon.

Funky new shoes

When I was in Florida in October I bought some Vibram Five Fingers a.k.a. "toe shoes" and I have to say this are pretty comfortable shoes, it almost feels like waking barefoot (which by the way I love to do).


Unfortunately I don't get to use them as much as I'll like to as they are quite too sporty and funky for work, but they are great for the beach, walking on the road and even as water shoes.

Oh, well not much else to share today, so if you feel like getting a pair I totally recommend them.

Glitter anyone?

It's not even December yet and I'm already dreading the glitter...

but don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like Christmas decorations:

or the glittery "My Little Pony", I had a few growing up and loved them...


or what about the fantasy carnival suits? those are very nice and glittery... not that I would like to wear one!


I even like the crazy glittery make up, even though I wouldn't wear it either...




So to me glitter is fine until I get to work and it's all over my desk, paper and carpet because of the Christmas decorations and I'm the one that ends of cleaning it, not fun! LOL...

Anybody up to some glitter cleaning with me today?

Finally...

it's Friday! Can you see me jumping with joy?

Well, that picture was really taken last Sunday when I was the beach, jumping with joy cause I was at the beach and it was Sunday... but I figure the picture can be used towards any kind of reason for jumping, even for "shooting at the sky", LOL!

This weekend I'm a single wife, my husband is going away to Cuba to a Cigar Event and even though I was invited I'm not really that much into smoking cigars, but my dad is, so I invited him and paid his ticket from Costa Rica to Cuba so he can come, meet my husband and have a cigar weekend with him... Oh man, I'm such a great wife and daughter!!!

So, I got the weekend all to myself... WOW, what I'm I going to do??? Nails, nursery, get a new dress for a work event in December, hang out with the dogs, maybe catch a chick flick, watch the farewell fireworks of Pirates Week on Saturday night with friends, go to the movies... and then on Sunday get my husband at the airport, cuddle up and enjoy the end of the weekend.... Sounds like a plan!

End of a state of war

Lately in my dreams I've been battling a terrorizing war with this monster

and even though the monster looks like he's just out of a science fiction movie, it's no other that Aedes taeniorhynchus a.k.a common mosquito.

It's been a few weeks that the situation human vs. mosquito in my house is being a very, very bloody battle...

Our house (as you can see in the above picture) is built on 10 foot stilts so we get very nice breezy most of the year, we have a nice deck in the front as well as in the back so we keep the doors open to get even better air flow during day and night, also this way we do not have to always run the a/c and feel like we live in a jar!

These past few weeks we have had a lot of rain and not so much wind so mosquitoes took advantage of that, coming into the house and hiding in the dark spots so when the night comes they come out to haunt us, bite us and make our night a nightmare....

But not anymore, after weeks of battling those annoying insects, we have come up with the perfect solution; a way to sleep better at night, still with all our doors open and not worry about them annoying visitors harassing us!

BEHOLD THE MOSQUITO NET!!!

We installed it last night and we had a pretty good night sleep. I really like it mostly cause it brings back memories of when I lived in Mexico and had one just like it, besides it looks nice and gives you the feeling of a little camping/romantic mood, LOL!!!

Yesterday was the 1st official day of the Pirates Week 09 Festival here on the island (this year being the 32th anniversary of it).

So on this day we celebrated the "landing" of the pirates in Hogs Bay, Georgetown, which symbolized the day they came ashore and took the faux Governor hostage, as well as they took over the island as well. Just like you see in the events here captured:

I don't think the Governor and his "troops" are ready for what's coming...

Oh- oh, the Governor is in trouble now...

and so is the rest of his troops

now he is officially captured

and so are his troops...

the pirates celebrate!!!

After the Landing we had the parade (more pictures to come tomorrow)...

There were all sorts of pirates around,
every size, color and and taste
(even Davie John's showed up!).

Now for the entire week the pirates will take the Governor around the island to the 5 different districts for what is called Heritage Day, its a full day at each area with lots of music, local food, crafts and events, very fun!
