I learned to live without TV when I lived for 3 years (from '02 to '05) in "remote" Tulum, Mexico.
While there, I lived and worked at a Yoga Retreat Resort that didn't have electricity 24hrs and operated mainly on generators, so specially during the night the lights went off at 12 midnight and came back on at 5am.
A few months after I moved there, my boss bought some batteries for the generator so he offer to put a 24 hour outlet. So, out of that one outlet I survived with my one fan, a lamp and my little stereo... always connected.
Years later I moved back to a bit more "civilization" to Cayman Brac and although I had TV, the island only has about 6 channels so there wasn't much of a choice.
When I finally moved to Grand Cayman, having a TV or cable was not on my "must have" list to survive and since my husband (boyfriend at the time) didn't have cable (although he did have an actual TV), I just continued life without it.
Of course it's not that I don't like TV, as there are some good shows and channels out there, but there's also a good share of crappy ones (like some of the "reality shows" nowadays). So, to make it clear we do own a TV but we mainly use it for movies and we have it connected to our computer to watch from there.
Now, lately I've been kind of hooked on a show called "Inside the Actor's Studio" which airs on Bravo Channel (although I watch it on my TV from this YouTube channel)... and it's a "one on one" interview kind of show with famous actors and actresses.
As the host (James Lipton) says, "it starts at the beginning" meaning where the actor/actress was born, raised, who are their parents, siblings, schools, career begin, and then off to pretty much every project and movie they've been involved with.
So far, I've watched the show with; Betty white, Robin Williams, Jude Law, George Clooney, Myke Myers, Will Smith, John Cousak and Salma Hayek.
Well, my favorite part of the show is at the end when Mr. Lipton would ask a set of ten questions that I find very interesting so I decided to share them with you and also give you my answers.
Now, what about you? Would love to hear your answers and if you've never seen the show perhaps you might wanna check it out.
Have a great Thursday!

The ten questions Lipton asks are:
- What is your favorite word? wicked
- What is your least favorite word? mucus
- What turns you on? charm
- What turns you off? self pity
- What sound or noise do you love? the ocean surf
- What sound or noise do you hate? mosquitoes buzzing when I am trying to sleep
- What is your favorite curse word? fuck
- What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Vet
- What profession would you not like to do? Mortician
- If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates? Welcome home, we've been expecting you!
Now, what about you? Would love to hear your answers and if you've never seen the show perhaps you might wanna check it out.

4 commented; now it's your turn!:
I had watched the show but haven't seen it in forever!
My new addiction is HGTV (Home and Garden Television) and I love House Hunters, House Hunters International, The Property Brothers and Love It Or List It.
Uh-oh I am a HUGE reality TV freak and my current obsession is Big Brother :)
Uuh, that´s a lot of questions, some a bit challenging, but I´ll try to answer (though I would normally use danish words of course):
1. sweetheart
2. pathetic
3. uniqueness
4. being ignored
5. birds singing
6. heavy metal music, heavy trafic on motorways
7. idiot
8. singer, actress, author
9. working in a prison
10. Well done, I can use you for an even better job now :-)
Have a great day - with or without telvision ;-)
I like this list! I stole your idea and used it on my blog (I credited you, of course)...and I agree about TV. I love watching sports and some shows, but I can't stand reality TV and rarely get so excited that I "follow" a certain show.
You live on Grand Cayman?!! I am so jealous :)
What a dream. I agree there aren't that many great shows on tv. I do love suits though. Actors studio is great too however I wish we could jump in with questions too. I'm writing this on my iPad so I can no longer see the list of q's - but I dislike the sound of mosquitos too.
Btw, thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great day.
Best,
mikky
